Since the release of Windows 95, Microsoft has issued a series of patches and updates for major system components. We have downloaded as many as Microsoft would allow us to distribute and placed them on this CD-ROM in the WIN95 directory. If you apply all of them (following the instructions for each), you will bring your copy of Windows 95 up to date.
You can find more patches, and our analysis of the present state and future direction of operating system patches in the Windows environment in this article by our vice president and editorial director, Fred Langa.
These patches are the most recent versions as of Oct. 1, 1996, when we completed this section of the CD-ROM. Microsoft may release updates or new patches; you can check it out (if you have Internet access) at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/software/updates.htm

You should read the detailed description of each update before applying it.
